sensiBel making studio-quality audio accessible to everyone

About us
sensiBel is a Norwegian optical MEMS sensor company delivering the next generation of MEMS microphones.

Who are we?
The sensiBel team bring together MEMS, electronics, optics and acoustics technology experts, backed by a strong business and leadership team with a track record of scaling high-tech companies globally. We are passionate about audio and are dedicated to bring a true studio-quality MEMS microphone to our customers' products. From concept to market, we are fully focused on enabling a new generation of audio experiences, powered by optical MEMS technology.

Our mission
The core technology behind MEMS microphones is based on the same basic principle as invented more than 100 years ago. sensiBel is breaking with this principle and introducing optical technology to the microphones to enable studio-quality performance in a miniaturized package. Our SBM series MEMS microphone is now disrupting the market and has enabled improved user experiences across consumer, conferencing, professional audio and industrial applications. We are setting the new standard with professional-grade audio - and making it accessible to everyone.
Our values
Innovation
We have an innovative mindset and always seek creative ways to solve tough problems. We are curious and determined to overcome any barriers we may face. We create customer value
Commitment
We are committed to our mission, vision and our goals. We take ownership of our individual tasks and in the relationship with suppliers, customers and partners.
Integrity
We act with integrity in all we do, all the time. We are honest, respectful and hold the highest ethical standards.
The management team
We are setting the new standard with professional-grade audio - and making it accessible to everyone.

Our history
The roots of sensiBel trace back to pioneering research at SINTEF in Norway during the early 2000s, where the concept of using optical technology for MEMS microphones was first explored.

2010's
First prototype
Researchers at SINTEF demonstrated a functional prototype with remarkably low noise, proving the technology’s potential.

2017
sensiBel is established
sensiBel was founded in 2017 to bring this innovation to the market. Over the next several years, we refined and miniaturized the design, secured industrial partnerships, and scaled manufacturing

2022
First SBM100 microphones
In 2022, we began shipping the SBM100 package, offering customers the first fully integrated MEMS microphone with 80 dB Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) and 146 dB Acoustic Overload Point (AOP) experience

2026
Pushing limits
sensiBel is pushing the spec limits, and released the highest dynamic range digital MEMS microphone with 84 dB SNR and 146 dB AOP

Today
Mass production and R&D
Today, sensiBel is going into high volume production of the SBM100B and actively engaging in the global market, as well as developing new sensor products based on its OptoKore™ technology.
